The Heart of Spain: Montserrat!

I went from Barcelona to Montserrat! 🇪🇸 In this video we explore Montserrat mountain, the Montserrat Monastery and the famous Black Madonna (La Moreneta). I take you through Montserrat from start to finish, one of the most impressive trips you can make from Barcelona.
Located about 60 km northwest of Barcelona, Montserrat is one of the most special places in Catalonia, with its extraordinary rock formations, stunning views and a monastery built into the mountain. It isn't just a tourist mountain; it has also been an important religious and cultural center for centuries.
In this video I drive from Barcelona to Montserrat, wind my way up the mountain roads toward the top and visit the Monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat.
One of the most important sights in Montserrat is, without a doubt, the Black Madonna, La Moreneta. This image of the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child in the Basilica of Montserrat is one of Catalonia's most important religious symbols. People come from all over the world not only to see Montserrat but also to visit the Black Madonna.
We explore the monastery and the inside of the basilica, see the Black Madonna and visit the area filled with colorful candles that visitors light for their wishes and prayers.
But Montserrat is more than its monastery.
I also explore the mountain's incredible rock formations, its viewpoints and other corners of Montserrat. Its Catalan name roughly means "serrated mountain", and the moment you see the landscape you understand why.
If you're planning a trip to Barcelona and want to see something different outside the city, Montserrat is definitely worth considering.
If you have a few days in Barcelona, Montserrat could be one of the most unique day trips you can take outside the city. If you're into nature, history, monasteries, religious architecture and extraordinary scenery, it's a must-see near Barcelona.
For me, it was one of those places where seeing it in photos and actually being there are two completely different things.
