I Went to a La Liga Match in Barcelona! Espanyol vs Sevilla

September 8, 2026 · 6:51

For the first time, I watched a La Liga match from the stands in Barcelona! 🇪🇸 I saw RCD Espanyol vs Sevilla FC at RCDE Stadium, Espanyol's home in Barcelona. In this video I share my own experience of football culture in Spain, the atmosphere of a La Liga match, Espanyol fans, RCDE Stadium and ticket prices in Spain.
When it comes to football in Barcelona, FC Barcelona is the first name that comes to mind, but I was also curious about the matchday atmosphere at the city's other long-established club, RCD Espanyol. So this time I went to RCDE Stadium and watched Espanyol vs Sevilla in La Liga from the stands.
Before the match we look around the stadium, see the fans arriving and soak up the atmosphere at RCDE Stadium. Then we head into the stands for a close-up look at how Spanish football fans experience a game.
Opened in 2009, RCDE Stadium is RCD Espanyol's own ground. Located in the Cornellà-El Prat area of Barcelona, it is home to Espanyol's supporters and holds around 38,000 spectators.
So how much does it cost to watch a La Liga match in Spain?
For RCD Espanyol's regular La Liga fixtures, general-sale tickets can start at around 35 euros. Prices vary a lot depending on seat location, the opponent and how important the match is. VIP tickets can cost considerably more.
When big clubs like Real Madrid come to Barcelona, the picture changes completely. For example, general-sale tickets for Espanyol vs Real Madrid at RCDE Stadium started at 209.50 euros. In other words, watching La Liga in Barcelona can be quite affordable for some matches, while against big opponents like Real Madrid even the cheapest ticket can top 200 euros.
The RCD Espanyol vs Sevilla FC match I attended was the full La Liga experience. The atmosphere in the stands, the fans' chants, the pre-match excitement and the energy inside the stadium made it far more fun than I expected.
In this Barcelona vlog I tried to show not just the Espanyol vs Sevilla match, but also football culture in Spain and what it's really like to go to a La Liga game.
If you're traveling to Barcelona and love football, consider RCD Espanyol matches as an alternative to FC Barcelona. Especially at the more affordable fixtures, you can enjoy a genuine La Liga atmosphere in Barcelona.
Do you think paying 35–50 euros for a La Liga match in Spain makes sense? And would you pay over 200 euros for a Real Madrid game? Tell me in the comments. ⚽👇
